KQED, the public media organization serving Northern California, is pleased to announce 17 nominations for the 2013 Northern California EMMY® Awards for its public television stations KQED and KQED Plus. The 42nd annual Northern California Area EMMY® Awards ceremony will take place at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square on Saturday, June 15, 2013.

The EMMY® Award is presented for outstanding achievement in television by The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS). San Francisco/ Northern California is one of twenty chapters awarding regional EMMY® statuettes. The Northern California chapter is composed of media companies and individuals from Visalia to the Oregon border and includes Hawaii and Reno, NV. Entries were aired during the 2012 calendar year. 674 English and 115 Spanish entries were received in 60 categories.
