KQED, Los Angeles Times, Telemundo52 and The California Channel will organize and broadcast the debate between Democrat Governor Jerry Brown and Republican challenger Neel Kashkari.

KQED, the Los Angeles Times, Telemundo52 and The California Channel are proud to announce the only confirmed California gubernatorial debate for the 2014 election, which will be held on Thursday, September 4, at 7pm at California Channel’s Sacramento studios. The one-hour debate will be broadcast live on statewide television and radio and also be streamed live on the Web.

The debate will be moderated by John Myers, the senior editor of KQED’s new California Politics and Government Desk. Panel of journalists for the debate includeTimes Editor-at-Large Jim Newton and Telemundo52 Morning News Anchor Dunia Elvir.

KQED Public Television 9 and Telemundo stations in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Fresno and Sacramento will televise the debate live and provide a simultaneous Spanish-language translation for viewers. Additionally, the California Channel will broadcast the debate live to more than 5 million homes across the state.

KQED Public Radio will also broadcast the debate live on its stations in San Francisco (88.5 FM) and Sacramento (89.3 FM) and will distribute the debate live for broadcast to 30 public radio stations across California via its statewide news service, The California Report.

KQED News programs The California Report and KQED NEWSROOM will provide in-depth analysis of the debate on Friday, September 5. The Los Angeles Times will also provide readers with news coverage and analysis in print and online. The live feeds for television and radio will also be made available to all stations across the state. News reporters, who wish to cover the debate in Sacramento will also have access to the broadcast feed.
