Are you one of the thousands of people currently obsessed with Hamilton? Perhaps you're counting the days until the Broadway musical actually arrives in the Bay Area next March?

Well, here's a head-spinning tidbit to tide you over. Oakland-born, Grammy Award-winning actor and rapper Daveed Diggs, who plays both Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in the hit show, appeared on The Tonight Show May 9 to chat with Jimmy Fallon.

Fans who follow Diggs, whether in the context of Hamilton or his LA-based hip-hop group clipping., should not be surprised by the supersonic speed of the rapper's flow in the clip below. (He apparently thinks the rapping he does in his Broadway performances is of a "medium-fast" variety.) But that doesn't make it any less fascinating to behold.

And in case there was any concern that Diggs' superstardom might make him forget his roots: On May 3, when Diggs learned he'd been nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in Hamilton, he tweeted a clip from the thoroughly Oakland-centric music video for his track "Fresh From the Hood," off his 2012 record Small Things to a Giant.

Featured in said clip: the lyric about making "music for this Tony I'm pursuing."

The Tony Awards take place June 12.
