Hey Bay Area, Here's Where To Party In the Name of Prince

In case you've been off the internet and haven't turned on the TV or radio for a solid eight hours, we have some bad news for you: Prince has died.

If your immediate reaction to this is to burrow under the covers moaning "This is what it sounds like when doves cry," well, we can't blame you. But, to be honest, that is probably not what our close personal friend Prince would have wanted us to do. He would have wanted to us to dance. He would have wanted us to get animated. He would have wanted us to go crazy.

Here are some opportunities to do just that. We'll update this list as we hear about more.

Thursday, April 21:

San Francisco City Hall will be going purple at 8 pm, thanks to a lightning-quick social media campaign apparently kicked off by FunCheapSF.

Also at 8 pm: Prince memorial flash mob at the Ferry Building.

Sweater Funk and other DJs will be spinning Prince favorites at the Make-Out Room. 

BFF.fm DJs will be holding their own with an Emergency Prince Tribute tonight at Pops. 

Friday, April 22:

Purple Rain, in all its majesty, shall be screened at the Roxie Theater at 11:55 pm. 

Art space Southern Exposure will kick off its new exhibition with a Prince dance party.

The Church of 8 Wheels will host two nights (Friday and Saturday) of Prince-themed roller disco.

Saturday, April 23:

Oakland's Heart and Dagger Saloon will be showing Purple Rain on repeat and spinning Prince tunes all night long.

Club BNB will be hosting a Prince Farewell Dance Party.

R&B station KLBX 102.9 FM is throwing a Prince Tribute Day Party at Liege Spirits Lounge in Oakland. (The first 102 people who show up in purple get a free Prince mix CD.)

Sunday, April 24:

Disco Cabana's daytime Prince tribute party was apparently planned weeks ago?!

Wednesday, April 27:

Prince: A Celebration at the Elbo Room, with DJs Chaki, Cory Sklar, Jeremy Wheat, and more. Proceeds from the $5 door charge will go to benefit the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.

Thursday, April 28:

1015 Folsom hosts a dance night tribute party.
