She may have started out simply wanting to emulate Marilyn Monroe in image and demeanor, but in the end, Playboy Playmate turned TV personality and weight loss product spokeswoman Anna Nicole Smith was a little too much like her blonde, buxom predecessor.
When Smith died in 2007 at age 39 from a combination of prescription pills, it surprised very few people. Her slurred speech while introducing Kanye West at the 2004 Billboard Awards had cemented her status as a punchline; the joke, you see, was that she was a mess.
She was also, of course, a human being with two young children and many dear friends. One of those friends was apparently Margaret Cho, the San Francisco-born comedian, activist, and erstwhile musician. Cho's set to release a new musical album later this month titled American Myth, a collaboration with singer-songwriter Garrison Starr. This week, she gave fans a taste of what they can expect with this funny, bittersweet Where's Waldo-esque tribute to her late friend. Give it a watch below.
