Here, in one convenient file, are five feature stories that aired in 2012 on either our Northern California KQED News or our statewide daily show, The California Report. Two of the stories look at Congressional races that were shaped by some big forces: California's new Top Two primary system, a new independent redistricting process and a deluge of independent expenditures. Two examine local ballot measures: a soda tax with national implications and a minimum wage increase that was born from a unique student-driven experiment in political engagement. We've also included a feature about the changing politics in one region of California, which aired as part of a series of "road trip" stories capturing the political climate in various parts of our vast and diverse state.
