The University of California graduate student union voted to authorize a strike last week. Keeping graduate students on board is a big deal because the UC has a worldwide reputation for research and undergraduate education and graduate students are a key ingredient in both of those. UC Irvine is one of the universities that is struggling to increase the number of graduate students on campus.
