LA County Supervisors voted Tuesday to continue a controversial partnership between the Sheriff's department and Federal immigration officials. For almost a decade, specially trained deputies have checked the immigration status of inmates in county jails. If it's determined they're in the country illegally or can otherwise be deported once they serve their time, the sheriffs turn them over to Immigration. The Board voted 3 in favor, 2 abstaining, to renew LA county's contract for the program, known as 287-G.
