The LAPD patrol division of Newton, the setting of the film "End of Watch," has been troubled by gang and drug activity. Recently, the LAPD has come under scrutiny for allegedly practicing the sort of aggressive policing that's celebrated in that movie. As a result, the LAPD recently appointed a new captain to the division. A big part of Jorge Rodriguez's job will be to win back support by practicing "community policing."
