A couple months ago, many people hoped 2017 would be the start of a new era for women in politics. A woman could be sworn in as president of the United State, and she would provide long coattails to other women leaders. But not only did Hillary Clinton lose, state legislatures around the country saw the number of female representatives either tumble or flat line. So is it time to toss out the old election playbook and start over?
