Liberal activists and voters, as noted in this blog post by Joe Garoli of the Chronicle and this blog post by Foon Rhee of The Sacramento Bee, do not like President Obama's deal with Republicans to extend the Bush-era tax cuts.
The Bay Area congressional contingent appears similarly disinclined to go along with the deal, if one takes their public positions at face value. Lynn Woolsey and Mike Thompson aren't on board. Pete Stark and Barbara Lee signed a letter to Nancy Pelosi calling it "fiscally irresponsible" and "grossly unfair." Anna Eshoo doesn't seem down with it, and George Miller said he's "not happy with it." Sam Farr went on TV to argue against it.
As for San Francisco-Peninsula Congresswoman Jackie Speier, you can hear her opinion in this interview with KQED's Cy Musiker. She called the deal "a lot of wishful thinking," among other things, just before she went off to get jawboned on the agreement's merits by Vice President Joe Biden.
