Who knew there were scenes right out of Fame to be glimpsed in Oakland?

Yay! to the Oakland Tribune for posting these videos of Oakland School for the Arts' a capella singing group, Vocal Rush, doing their thing. The group won the International Championship of High School A Cappella last month. That's probably not as prestigious as the Grammys, but it beats the "95 Percent Attendance Award" I received during those years.

KQED's Caitlin Esch covered the group's fundraiser last month. Said soprano De’Zhanice Kirtdoll: "I'm like the rose that grew from the concrete. There's so much here that you can enjoy and fall in love with."
