From Bay City News:

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - Investigators are still trying to piece together details about a Sunday night shooting at the BART Civic Center station that left one suspect dead and a BART police officer suffering from cuts and bruises on his arm, a BART spokesman said.

Two BART police officers apparently shot the suspect, a man who was allegedly armed with knife, at about 9:45 p.m., spokesman Linton Johnson said. Paramedics took the suspect to the hospital, where he later died around 10:45 a.m.

The two officers were responding to reports of a "wobbly drunk" near the train platform at about 9:30 p.m., Johnson said. Police are trying to determine whether the shooting is connected with the drunk person, he said.

Investigators have also discovered glass from what appears to be a shattered bottle and knives at the scene, Johnson said. The two officers have been placed on administrative leave while the investigation takes place, he said.

The San Francisco Police Department is performing a criminal investigation, while BART police provide an administrative inquiry, including whether BART policies and procedures were followed, Johnson said. The Civic Center station, which has been closed to both BART and San Francisco Municipal Railway light-rail vehicle passengers since about 10:15 p.m. Sunday, is expected to reopen at 8 a.m. today. Trains will be running on a Sunday schedule due to Independence Day.
