Cal Fire has launched a new map so that people can check whether their homes were damaged or destroyed in the North Bay fires.

As Cal Fire employees conduct damage inspections, they enter the information on each home using a mobile app. That is then added to a database, and is displayed using ESRI's ArcGIS program, according to Deputy Chief Steven Hawks.

The map is currently being updated once or twice a day, and Hawks expects that it will take at least another week for the agency to finish damage inspections. After they have finished, he says, they'll leave a note on the map. Homes that are not damaged or destroyed are not noted.

Red icons indicate destroyed homes and yellow icons indicate damaged homes. Users can also search for their address.
