Update, 9 a.m. Tuesday: Crews will work possibly into Wednesday to extricate a derailed train car from Alameda Creek and ensure the ACE train line involved in Monday evening's accident is safe for service.

Officials say that nine people were injured in the incident, apparently caused by a landslide.

Original post: Authorities say a commuter train traveling from San Jose to Stockton derailed Monday night and the front car fell into a creek, injuring 14 people.

Joe Goldeen, reporter with the Stockton Record, tweeted that there were no fatalities.

The train derailed because a tree had fallen on the tracks, KTVU News reported and said that at least 200 people were on board.

Alameda County Sheriff's Department spokesman Sgt. J.D. Nelson says the train car is partially submerged in water and crews are working to get people out.

Nelson says the Altamont Corridor Express -- or ACE -- train No. 10 went off the tracks near Niles Canyon Road in Sunol, a rural area of Alameda County about 45 miles east of San Francisco.

Around 9:00 p.m. Alameda County Fire tweeted that all passengers and been removed from the train and that 14 people were injured, 10 with minor injuries and 4 with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Those not injured are being transferred to Alameda County fairgrounds in Pleasanton.

John Wong tweeted from the scene that he was a passenger on the train and that the conductor "got banged up pretty good." He shared this video saying that four busses were taking non-injured passengers to the Pleasanton fairgrounds.

In a statement, the Altamont Corridor Express said there will be no ACE service on Tuesday.

Officials say it was raining heavily in the area at the time of the accident.
