According to the Modesto Bee, Bill Cosby got a standing ovation when he performed in Turlock Sunday. The show was the 77-year-old comedian's first in California since multiple accusations of sexual assault exploded in the media.

The Bee talked to several people who attended the show, as well as a lone protester.

"I knew this was going to happen," said Suzette Sims, who carried a sign that said "I believe the women" outside the Turlock Community Theatre. "I believe very strongly this whole situation is a testament to how women have been treated in our country. ... If you're powerful and important the rules don't apply to you."

Denise Palecek said she was a longtime fan of Cosby, but that she seriously considered not attending. "I see both sides, I guess."
