  • Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch and, uh, ouch. UC regents will soon consider whether to raise tuition 5 percent per year over the next five years, hiking in-state tuition to $15,564 at the end of that period. Tuition has been frozen for the past several years. (SF Chronicle)
  • Will Lee or won't Lee? Yes, Lee will. The mayor of San Francisco confirmed today he will run for a second full term next year. Seems like just yesterday Gavin Newsom (or was it Willie Brown and Rose Pak?) pulled Lee from the civil service chorus and gave him a starring role in the city's political life. Lee, who was the city administrator when he got the gig as interim mayor, was such an unknown at the time that we felt compelled to publish a post called "Who is Ed Lee?" (SF Chronicle)
  • The Oakland City Council has passed a tenant protection ordinance that includes the banning of threats to report a tenant’s immigration status, the East Bay Express reports.
