The National Park Service wouild shut down Alcatraz tours Following the completion of cleanup efforts at Alcatraz Island as part of a community relations project during San Francisco Fleet Week (SFFW), Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8) are taken on a guided tour of Alcatraz by Wendy Solis, a park ranger with the U.S. National Park Service. SFFW 2012 is scheduled from Oct. 3-8 and brings more than 2,500 Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen from four ships to the city of San Francisco in order to highlight the personnel, technology and capabilities of the sea services.
