All but one of the U.S. venues on Michelle Shocked's planned tour have canceled her appearances after anti-gay remarks were attributed to her on Sunday.

During a concert at Yoshi's San Francisco, Shocked reportedly said, "When they stop Prop 8 and force priests at gunpoint to marry gays, it will be the downfall of civilization and Jesus will come back."

Many fans called out their objections and others left the club. Shocked responded, "You are going to leave here and tell people 'Michelle Shocked said God hates faggots,'" according to multiple reports.

The audience cleared out of Yoshi's where Shocked had been performing, and management turned out the lights and cut off the mic, the Bay Area Reporter says.

By Tuesday, all but two of the 10 venues listed as part of the Texas folk singer's tour had posted notices on websites or Facebook pages cancelling her appearances, and a worker at one of the others, Cozmic Pizza, said by phone that her show was canceled.

The cancellations included these in California: March 23 at McCabe's Concerts in Santa Monica; March 28 at Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz; March 29 at Hopmonk Tavern in Novato; and April 24 at the Palms in Winters.

These shows outside of California were cancelled as well: April 25 at Alberta Rose Theatre in Portland, Ore.; April 26 at Meander's Kitchen in Seattle, Wash.; April 27 at Cozmic Pizza in Eugene, Ore; May 3 at eTown Hall in Boulder, Colo.; May 5 at Evanston Space in Evanston, Ill. The owner of Harmony Bar in Madison, Wis., where Shocked was scheduled for May 4, could not be reached for comment.

Her appearance at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival remained in doubt, according to Reverb.

And Little Australia reports that some venues in Europe are considering cancelling as well.

A petition on Change.org called for cancellation of the rest of the planned tour.
