It's that time of year when Californians watch our East Coast brethren duck for cover as the latest winter storm rolls in. But in this day and age of technology we are no longer tied to The Weather Channel or redialing mom for updates from home. Now we have live video webcams where we can watch each snowflake landing in Maine, Boston, New York, New Jersey and elsewhere.

Of course it's not all hot chocolate and snowmen; the storm is set to do some real damage. The National Weather Service says about 50 million people who live in the storm's wake can expect as much as one to two feet of snow and wind gusts as high as 60-75 mph.

Then there are all the stranded travelers. Airlines have cancelled dozens of flights at San Francisco International Airport.

But don't worry East Coasters, you'll have your chance for mocking revenge every time we freak out over less than one inch of snow.

Tomoko Hosaka of San Francisco-based Ustream has compiled these webcams from around the Northeast so you can keep tabs ...
