On Thursday and Friday, December 13th and 14th, there will be unusually high tides along Bay Area beaches, as the "king tides" roll in. King tides happen a few times every year due to the gravitational pulls of the sun and moon. At the south end of San Francisco's Ocean Beach the tides gained height early Thursday morning.
