Public transportation can be a godsend on days like today. Sure, Muni and BART can get you around the Bay Area without getting soaked. But take a big step back, and Bay Area transportation can be more than a workhorse. It can be hypnotic -- even beautiful.

Check out this video from a few weeks ago showing 24 hours in Bay Area public transportation. Each white dot is a bus, train or ferry from Muni, BART, AirBART, Blue & Gold Fleet, Harbor Bay Ferry, Baylink or Golden Gate Ferry. The creators of the video collected their data from the Google Transit Feed Specification, which allows public transit agencies to share their schedules online.
