Each white dot is a bus, train or ferry from Muni, BART, AirBART, Blue & Gold Fleet, Harbor Bay Ferry, Baylink or Golden Gate Ferry. The creators of the video collected their data from the Google Transit Feed Specification, which allows public transit agencies to share their schedules online.
