That loud boom you've been hearing the past few days probably wasn't the roar of Giants fans at a playoff game, or applause by the crowd at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival, or the combined shouts of competitors in the America's Cup match races - although each of those events was held over the weekend in San Francisco.

Instead, it was most likely the roar of the Blue Angels, the Naval air-demonstration squadron. The planes performed over the Bay Area as part of Fleet Week, another event held in the area as part of what some of us media folks have dubbed the "Big Bay Weekend." (This reporter wanted to go with "Eventastic," "Eventapalooza" or this (warning: contains a bad word).

The Blue Angels' performance generated a fair number of photos and videos on social media. Here is one of our favorite videos, shot by a man who took his mother to see the squadron perform over the Bay:

We've also collected photos of the Blue Angels over the Bay Area into this Storify:

Finally, here's a Storify of photos shared on social media of the Giants game, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, the Castro Street Fair and the America's Cup races:
