(Bay City News) Oakland's Tool Lending Library has increased the check out time for its collection of over 2,700 tools, and is in the process of adding new tools to its collection, library officials said.

The Tool Lending Library, located at 5205 Telegraph Ave. in Oakland's Temescal neighborhood, houses tools, how-to books and videos that can be freely checked out by residents of Oakland, Emeryville and Piedmont.

The library carries tools for carpentry, woodworking, concrete, masonry, electrical, gardening and plumbing work and even carries a variety of power tools.

Tools can now be checked out of the library for four days instead of three, giving borrowers an extra day to do their work. Library officials said this should make the flow of tools through the library more efficient, freeing up space to reorganize the inventory and add to the collection.

New sanders, rotary hammers and drills have already been added to the library, and library officials are promising an even wider selection in the near future.
