MORGAN HILL (Bay City News) The family of missing Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar announced today the creation of an official website dedicated to the search and safe return of the girl who disappeared on March 16.

The webpage,, will post new information, search details and resources as they become available, according to the KlaasKids Foundation, which provides search-and-rescue services for families of missing people.

Friends, family and members of the community can leave messages on the site, which also hosts blog updates from Sierra’s family members.

Sierra went missing nearly a month ago, when she did not show up for school, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, which, along with volunteers, has been conducting an extensive search of the area near Sierra’s home, where she was last seen.

On Saturday, Sierra’s family announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to her safe return.

Since then, the search has continued, with the sheriff’s Search and Rescue team utilizing a sonar device to comb reservoirs. The torpedo-shaped sonar can help identify regions where divers should search for clues.

According to the sheriff’s office, the sonar device has helped authorities locate missing people and has been used to look for Laci Peterson, a fisherman in Alameda County, and a swimmer in Fresno County, among others.

The sheriff’s office is reviewing images taken earlier this week from the Chesbro and Uvas reservoirs, which are close to Sierra’s home.

Divers will be sent in later this week to investigate suspicious objects, if any, detected by the sonar device, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies on motor dirt bikes will also canvass remote land areas later this week to check for potential crime scenes and evidence.

Items belonging to Sierra, including her bag and cellphone, were recovered within blocks of her home.

A search for Sierra organized by KlaasKids Foundation took place today, and searches are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and register with photo ID at the search center at Burnett Elementary School at 85 Tilton Road in Morgan Hill.
