PG&E Says Power Restored to 7,000 Customers in San Francisco

About 7,000 PG&E customers are without power in San Francisco this morning, a utility spokeswoman said.

The outage was reported at about 10 a.m. and is affecting customers in the city's Western Addition and Laurel Heights neighborhoods, PG&E spokeswoman Fiona Chan said.

Chan told KQED's Stephanie Martin at 11:45 a.m. that the utility hopes to restore power by "early afternoon."

The outage was apparently caused by a third party that dug in and hit PG&E's underground equipment in the 1200 block of McAllister Street, Chan said.

She said utility crews responded and are working "as safely and quickly as possible" to restore power to the affected customers.

Power is expected to be restored to the customers by noon, Chan said.
