What's more fun than shopping online and making Friday night plans while pretending to work? An unexpected Facebook announcement. No one knows much, but it's taking place in New York so a logical guess is that the announcement will relate to the company's expansion there.

From Mashable:

Facebook sent out invites Friday morning for a press event set to take place later this afternoon at the company’s New York headquarters.

Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s chief operating officer, will be joined by Mike Schroepfer, Facebook VP of engineering, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

You can watch a livestream of the announcement at the nyc.gov website.

And because it's Friday, here's a gratuitous link to a gratuitous blog post of a gratuitous photo of Justin Timberlake donning an NPR t-shirt while filming The Social Network. You're welcome.
