Note: Not actual hot dog

In either a trenchantly metaphorical statement on sexual politics or a drunken stunt, an unidentified 31-year-old Santa Rosa man threw a hot dog at Tiger Woods Sunday while Woods was putting in the Frys.com Open. The incident occurred at the CordeValle Golf Club in San Marin, between Morgan Hill and Gilroy. The man was immediately descended upon by the golf police.

Video of the incident posted at Deadspin.

From the Washington Post:

A spectator yelled, then ran toward Woods and threw the pup as he stood over a putt at the par-3 No. 7 hole. The missile got nowhere near Woods, whose new caddie Joe LaCava ran toward the man, who quickly surrendered to security.

From the Santa Rosa Press Democrat:

“I was focusing on my putt when he started yelling,” said Woods, who didn't seem bothered by it all. “Next thing I know, he laid on the ground, and looked like he wanted to be arrested because he ... put his hands behind his back and turned his head.”

Deputies removed the man from the green and interviewed him nearby, Cardoza said. The man told deputies the hot dog flew out of his hand, Cardoza said.

“He said he had a drink earlier in the day, but the deputies couldn't smell alcohol on his breath,” Cardoza said. “He was totally coherent, cooperative.”

He declined to say why he approached Woods.

“Who knows why he did it, he didn't explain to us,” Cardoza said.

Analysis of the incident from The Golf Channel. "What do you want me to say?" says one overtly pained commentator to his partner. "Guy threw a hot dog in the direction of now the 52nd-ranked player in the world. And now I'm supposed to do what?"
