Whole lotta shakin' goin' on in San Leandro...
This 3.6 hit three miles NNE of San Leandro at 9:57 a.m. And this one rumbled at 11:37 p.m. last night -- same magnitude, nearby epicenter.
Yesterday, a rare 5.9 quake, epicenter Virginia, rattled buildings and nerves all over the East Coast. Even the top of the Washington Monument cracked (metaphor, anyone?) No effect out here, though I did hear my New York City relatives screaming all the way in Potrero Hill. KQED's Dan Brekke, traveling in New York, noted, "it lasted longer than any California earthquake I've felt in 30 years."
