Update Apr 20: The judge has allowed large portions of the video to be played to the jury.

Original post
If you have not been paying attention to the Chauncey Bailey murder case, then you also may not have seen this startling video posted by the Chauncey Bailey Project, which is staffed by a group of journalists who have been reporting on events subsequent to the murder of the Oakland journalist Chauncey Bailey. Yusuf Bey IV and Antoine Mackey are currently on trial in Oakland for Bailey’s murder.

The Chauncey Bailey Project reports:

“Prosecutor Melissa Krum wants to show the entire 90 minutes to the jury, she told Judge Thomas Reardon. Speaking outside court, Bey IV’s lawyer, Gene Peretti, said he thought the tape could be cut down to 15 or 20 minutes.”

Here’s what the Chauncey Bailey Project had say about the video in 2008:

Your Black Muslim Bakery leader Yusuf Bey IV kept the gun used to kill journalist Chauncey Bailey in his closet after the attack and bragged of playing “hella dumb” when investigators asked him about the shooting, according to a secretly recorded police video.

He describes Bailey’s shooting in detail on the video, then laughingly denies he was there, and boasts that his friendship with the case’s lead detective protected him from charges.
