Boy if Ron Dellums was Greta Garbo when it comes to the media spotlight, Jean Quan is Madonna.

Mind you, we're not complaining. Quan has done a lot of interviews since she took over as mayor, including a couple with KQED. This morning she talked to us again, filling in newscaster Joshua Johnson on last night's White House state dinner for Chinese President Hu Jintao, which she attended.

Quan said the experience was "sort of Hollywood. You have your high-end Democratic Party leaders and givers and members on both sides of the aisle of Congress and the Supreme Court. And I think the Obamas were very gracious in trying to reach out to the Chinese community and acknowledge it."

"It was sort of a who's who of Chinese Americans," which represented "little cracks in the glass ceiling," Quan said.

Quan also talked about trade relations with China and hoping to shape and obtain grants available to cities.

At the dinner she sat behind Nancy Pelosi and Barbara Streisand, who have to be any self-respecting conservative's bogey-women of choice.

So welcome to the left-wing, West Coast, Hollywood-government liberal establishment Mayor Quan...
