It's independence day, of sorts, for those who believe the Earth's two eras are dated BiP (Before iPhone) and AiP (After iPhone). Today, in the Year 4 AiP, Verizon Wireless announced it will offer Apple's groundbreaking smartphone next month. That's good news for the legions of would-be buyers scared off by horror stories about network problems on AT&T, until now the only official U.S. provider for the device. It could be good news for the AT&T customers telling the horror stories—once they're done with their contracts. And it could even be good news for AT&T—though don't go by the stock prices today—if Verizon's "most reliable" network doesn't stand up to the data demand from the expected throngs of iPhone buyers.
