I guess it makes sense that a game involving kings and queens would be closely followed by the British.

Nine-year-old Samuel Sevian from Santa Clara, who recently became the youngest American chess player to attain the title of National Chess Master, has crossed the pond, at least in terms of news coverage. The Daily Mail and BBC News both carried items Wednesday about his achievement. We also spotted Sam and his dad in the studio yesterday recording a spot for the Beeb. He had a chess board in front of him, of course, and was staring at it like I look at my TV remote control -- with a mixture of love, respect, and total mastery.

Also, the Daily Mail unearthed this video of Sam claiming his first-place trophy at a Florida tournament in 2007.
