Cy Musiker Interviews Menlo Park Fire Chief, a Sept 11 Responder, About 9/11 Health Bill

Yesterday, Congress passed a bill that will cover the medical costs of September 11 responders.

One of those at Ground Zero as part of a search-and-rescue response team was Harold Schapelhouman, currently the Fire Chief of the Menlo Park Fire Protection District. After their experience at the World Trade Center site, Schapelhouman and 70% of his team fell ill from respiratory and other health problems.

KQED's Cy Musiker today interviewed Schapelhouman (who also responded to the Oklahoma City bombing) about the bill's passage, about his experience trying to get reimbursed from the government, and about the lingering effects of 9-11 on his health.
