Sarah Shourd, who was set free by Iran in September after being arrested and held for 14 months, released a song on YouTube today calling for the freeing of her two companions. According to AP, Shourd said the song is "one of many she wrote while in solitary confinement."
Shane Bauer and Joshua Fattal, both 28, as well as Shourd, are UC Berkeley alumni. Bauer and Shourd became engaged in prison. The three were arrested while hiking in the Kurdistan region of Iraq; Iranian authorities said they had crossed the border into Iran, and were held on charges of espionage. On Monday, Bauer's mother said Bauer and Fattal were allowed to call their families over the weekend.
