- Bay Area September home sales fell to their lowest level in three years, according to an MDA DataQuick report. The median home price, however, was up 5.6% from a year ago, to $265,000.
- Palo Alto's City Council High Speed Rail Committee unanimously voted Thursday to recommend against building a station in the city. The full council will probably discuss the issue on Monday night, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

This week, Amy Andre announced she will step down amid accusations that her organization shortchanged at least 20 smaller nonprofits hired to work beverage booths at the annual summer celebration.
The aggrieved nonprofits are owed a total of $46,000 - money Andre said will be paid back, even as the organization attempts to dig out of a $99,000 operating debt.
