San Jose Suspect Surrenders, Ending Standoff

San Jose police took a 34-year-old San Jose man wanted on an attempted murder charge into custody after an hours-long standoff that included a shoot-out near King Road.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was arrested at about 8:40 a.m., according to Sgt. Ronnie Lopez. He was apparently wounded during the shootout, treated at the scene by paramedics and was transported to a local hospital, he said.

The man had earlier opened fire as officers approached his car and police returned fire, in a more-than four-hour standoff in a residential neighborhood on Tampa Way. No officers were hit, but one officer suffered lacerations from shattered glass. Full story
