If you missed yesterday's Gavin Newsom-Abel Maldonado dust-up on Forum, it's well worth a listen, because frankly, it made for pretty compelling radio. Maldonado came out swinging, and the consensus seems to be that he perhaps came across as a little intemperate. Or, as my wife said, she tuned in while Maldonado, the incumbent Lieutenant Governor, was in the middle of accusing Newsom of protecting illegal immigrant criminals, and she thought that "some crazy caller" had managed to get through the show's screener.

Any partisan affinities aside, online commentary after the show mostly agreed with that assessment.
