California leads the nation in the number of COVID-19 cases even as a technical issue causes testing data to be underreported.

Because of the data problem, the state has stopped adding or removing counties from its coronavirus watch list.

In other words, it's worse than we think.

Add this to the long list of reasons to be serious about wearing a face mask.
