Officials have called off search and rescue operations for people on the "Conception" dive boat that caught fire and sank off Santa Cruz Island.

A total of 34 people are presumed dead from a fire that broke out on the boat at 3 a.m. on Monday.

It's heartbreaking to think that people whose sole purpose was to explore a beautiful place like Santa Cruz Island would meet with such tragedy.
