Congressman Adam Schiff
U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank), who chairs the House Intelligence Committee, joins us in the studio to talk about recent developments in his committee’s probe of President Trump’s financial dealings and possible collusion between the Trump election campaign and Russia.

Editor’s note:  We spoke with Congressman Schiff this morning before the Justice Department informed Congress that it had received special counsel Robert Mueller’s long-anticipated report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

California’s New Surgeon General
In January, Gov. Gavin Newsom announced the appointment of Nadine Burke Harris as California’s first  surgeon general. A pediatrician by training, Dr. Burke Harris gained national renown for raising awareness about how exposure to toxic stress and traumatic events in childhood can lead to poor health through adulthood. In 2012, she founded the Center for Youth Wellness in San Francisco to improve the health and outcomes of children and adolescents exposed to adverse childhood experiences.  She shares with us her goals and priorities as California’s top public health official.

E-Cigarettes and Teen Health
This week, San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera and Supervisor Shamann Walton announced legislation that would prohibit the sale of all electronic cigarettes until they’ve been reviewed by the FDA and would bar tobacco companies, including Juul — which makes a brand of e-cigarettes popular among youth — from renting city-owned property in the future. According to a recent survey by the CDC, more than 20 percent of middle and high school students reported using an e-cigarette in the past 30 days. Meanwhile, scientists at UCSF are revealing that teens who vape are being exposed to cancer-causing toxins.
