In a quest for capital, two Bay Area cannabis dispensaries announced multimillion-dollar deals with publicly traded marijuana companies in Canada.

Though it may not seem like it around here, marijuana is still illegal under federal law, which prevents California's legal dispensaries from accessing capital markets.

Now, in addition to their reputation as being very friendly, Canadians also have a reputation of legally investing in cannabis.
