Sparking cries of "shame, shame, shame," San Francisco supervisors removed Acting Mayor London Breed and named fellow supervisor Mark Farrell interim mayor.

The progressive wing of the Board of Supervisors voted to replace Breed in part out of concern she was too close to wealthy technology and real estate interests in the city.

Breed supporters leveled charges of racism against supervisors who voted to install Mark Farrell, a white venture capitalist, as mayor.

Farrell represented wealthier neighborhoods in the northern part of San Francisco and will remain as interim mayor until voters choose a new mayor on June 5.
