It was, indeed, an ambitious goal: to ban the very lifeblood of modern-day students -- their access to Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and AOL Messenger -- for an entire week.

But that's what Eric Darr, the provost at the Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, did this week, and according to a USA Today article, it didn't quite stick. "Based on his own anecdotal observations, the proportion of students who are actually going cold turkey is probably around 10% or 15%," the article says.

We'll check in with Darr next week to get his observations of how the week played out, what his goals were, and whether he'll conduct this kind of experiment again.
