Photos and Video by Wendy Goodfriend

During breaks from teaching in the back kitchen and filming episodes in the studio, Jacques spent a good deal of time painting. He is a prolific and accomplished artist but will tell you that while he is passionate about fine art he does not think of himself as being technically trained like he is in the culinary arts. I really enjoyed watching him relax into his creative zone churning out beautiful painting in the space between shoots. His artwork is whimsical and colorful and during his time filming at KQED he hand-painted menus for special events and created numerous impressionistic landscapes and still lifes.
