The killing of three law enforcement officers in Baton Rouge on Sunday set a somber mood at the first day of the Republican convention, which focused on public safety and national security. House Speaker Paul Ryan, Senate leader Mitch McConnell, Trump family members and various celebrities are among those expected to speak. But missing will be other leading Republicans, who have decided to skip the meeting, highlighting some tensions within the party. We’ll preview the 2016 GOP convention.
