A former senior Pentagon official says his superiors illegally punished a National Security Agency whistle-blower who was attempting to expose information about surveillance and mismanagement, and destroyed documents that would have bolstered his case. Supporters of NSA whistle-blower Edward Snowden say the new revelations explain why he had no choice but to leak his information to the media. Forum discusses government whistle-blowers and what is being done to protect them and the role they play in government accountability.
