Political upheaval in Venezuela looms as the opposition-led parliament called for nationwide protests to take place
Wednesday against President Nicolas Maduro. The protests, which will demand the President’s ouster, come as Venezuela
faces hyperinflation as well as acute food, water and electricity shortages. We discuss the structural causes of the crisis, the
prospect of a violent popular uprising and what the United States and the international community could do to bring stability
to the country.

Guests:

Hannah Dreier, associated press, Caracas-based correspondent

Miguel Tinker Salas, professor of history and Latin American studies, Pomona College; author of "Venezuela: What Everyone Needs to Know"

Alejandro Velasco, associate professor of history and Latin American studies, New York University; author of "Barrio Uprising: Urban Popular Politics and the Making of Modern Venezuela"
