State and Federal Officials Push to Remove Klamath River Dams

Four hydroelectric dams on the Klamath River would be demolished under an agreement announced by the Obama administration and state officials on Wednesday. Environmentalists say that the dams, located along the Oregon and California border, block passage of salmon and degrade water quality. The plan, which still requires approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, could result in the largest river restoration in U.S. history.
