On Monday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency released controversial new regulations aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions from power plants. Environmentalists are applauding the move, but the coal industry and many business groups oppose it, saying the regulations would boost electricity prices. We’ll examine the EPA proposal and discuss the potential implications for California, which has already moved aggressively to reduce carbon emissions.
